About
The Maryland Pathways to Partnership Initiative (MPPI) is all about helping children and youth with disabilities get the support they need to build successful careers. We focus on career development and competitive integrated employment, meaning jobs where everyone works together and has the same opportunities.
MPPI brings together different agencies and organizations to improve service coordination, share resources, and create better connections for students and families. By working closely with the State Agency Transition Collaborative, we’re making it easier for young people to access the services they need for a smooth transition into the workforce.
What We Do
MPPI helps students and families by:
- Providing information on pre-employment transition services and vocational rehabilitation through the Maryland State Department of Education’s Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS).
- Strengthening connections between schools, families, and community resources.
- Supporting career exploration, job training, and work-based learning opportunities.
- Partnering with organizations like The Parents' Place of Maryland and Centers for Independent Living to ensure families and educators have the training and tools they need.
- Making sure services are inclusive, culturally responsive, and accessible to all.
The initiative is supported by the Center for Transition and Career Innovation (CTCI) at the University of Maryland, with Abt Associates leading the program evaluation.
Together, we’re working to create a stronger future for Maryland’s youth with disabilities!
