Centers for Independent Living (CILS)
Your local Center for Independent Living (CIL) is a helpful place for people with disabilities of all ages. You can go there for support if you have a disability, are a family member or friend, or work with people with disabilities.
CILs are friendly and welcoming. They can give you information about programs and services in your community. They can also help you apply for benefits and find the support you need.
Here are some things a CIL may help you with:
- Finding community programs and services
- Getting support and answers to your questions, like:
- Where will I live?
- How will I get to work?
- What do I do if I need to go to the doctor?
- How do I plan meals?
- Applying for benefits or solving problems with them
